Michael Vick signs with Triumph NIL as Legacy Athlete

Hokies legend will have channel on Triumph Digital Network and be involved in activations leveraging his NIL rights

[Blacksburg, VA, April 19, 2023] Triumph NIL today announced that Michael Vick has signed with the agency as a Legacy Athlete. As such, the Virginia Tech football legend will be provided a channel on the Triumph Digital Network and be involved in activations leveraging his Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) rights. Vick and other former student-athletes will form a new vertical for the agency NIL ecosystem.

“We’ve always envisioned a legacy program being part of the Triumph business model,” said Brenden Hill, Triumph partner and strategic lead.  “The nostalgia and memories those former players created are the bedrock of Virginia Tech athletics and the connection with the fanbase. I’m excited for Mike to be a part of this and can’t wait to feature more former student-athletes. We’ve been intentional about how legacy deals will be structured to benefit former players and fund our goals to support current student-athletes, creating win/win scenarios.”

In Blacksburg, Michael Vick is synonymous with some of the biggest moments in Virginia Tech sports history. His time in Blacksburg staged dramatic growth for the athletic department, the university and the New River Valley. Vick, a highly touted recruit from Newport News, Virginia, starred for the Hokies from 1998-2000, and led Tech to the 1999 BCS National Championship Game. Vick was selected with the first overall selection in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons and played in the NFL for 13 seasons.

“We (Triumph) look at this as an opportunity for (Virginia Tech) student-athletes to enhance their brand,” said Vick Saturday on a Triumph podcast discussing his involvement.  “We want them to stay on campus for four years, we want to be happy and we want to provide an opportunity every other major university provide for their young men and women in sports. It’s all coming together.”

On Friday, Triumph launched the Triumph Digital Network (triumphnil.com), an innovative portal to benefit Virginia Tech student-athletes and agency clients. The re-envisioned site consists of individual channels through which supporters can connect, engage and conduct business with their favorite Hokies. Each channel will feature agency and individually branded merchandise, athlete-driven podcasts and original content, and creative and impactful partnership marketing opportunities. The site also offers subscription packages providing access to a variety of exclusive content and activations.

Triumph, an NIL sports marketing agency recognized by On3 Sports as a Top 20 ‘Most Ambitious’ NIL franchise, develops custom partnerships for collegiate student-athletes with members of the business community, supporters and fans. The group specializes in building meaningful and creative business relationships that meet all NCAA compliance and State legal criteria.
