Triumph, a NIL sports marketing agency, develops custom partnerships for collegiate student-athletes with members of the business community, supporters and fans. The group specializes in building meaningful business relationships that meet all NCAA compliance and State legal criteria.

“From the outset, Triumph has set a vision to support student-athletes from teams representing the whole of the Virginia Tech,” said Doug Hicks, Triumph partner. “Lauren, Dori, Tori and Alia are outstanding soccer players with character that will resonate with business and supporters, alike. We’re thrilled they have decided to work with us and look forward to building opportunities with them this Fall and beyond.”

Gogal, a Sophomore midfielder/defender, returns to the Hokies this Fall building on a season where she started seven of 17 games played. The Haymarket, VA-native starred for Virginia Development Academy prior to her time in Blacksburg. She bolstered her high school curriculum by taking classes at Northern Virginia Community College to prepare for her classwork at Virginia Tech.

“This is a new and great way for athletes to showcase their abilities both on and off the field,” said Gogal. “My work with Triumph will allow me to maximize opportunities while at Virginia Tech and set the foundation for work and exposure in pursuing a career as a professional athlete when my collegiate eligibility is finished.”

Haugen, a Junior from Bristow, VA, has become a standout defender during her time in Blacksburg. She started all 17 games in which she played last season. Haugen also represents Norway as part of their youth national team program. The product of Virginia Development Academy made a splash in her Freshman season, started 16 games for the Hokies in route to being named to the Top 100 Freshman list by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

“As a student-athlete, I feel it’s important to be a part of a team, but also the community around me,” said Haugen. “Through Triumph, I look forward to connecting with businesses and building a platform that best presents who I am as a player and person.

As a Junior forward, Powell returns after starting 19 of 20 games played in 2021, scoring eight goals and tallying six assists. Like Gogal, she starred at Battlefield High School and club side FC Virginia. Her lengthy list of collegiate playing awards includes honors from United Soccer Coaches, TopDrawerSoccer.com, College Soccer News and the ACC.

“I’m super-excited to join Triumph, given the work they are doing in the NIL space,” said Powell. “I look forward to building my personal profile and advocating for issues important to me.”

Skinner, a Junior, started each of the Hokies 20 matches in 2021. She boasted a 1.16 GAA with five shutouts during the season. Skinner has extensive experience in the U.S. National Team system, having appeared at the U14, U16 and U18 levels and was a standout performer for United Soccer Alliance in Fleming Island, FL.
